THE Federal Government (FG) has commenced the process on an upward review of corps members monthly allowance, the Director General(DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Suleiman Kazaure on Thursday disclosed.
He made the disclosure when he paid a visit to the FCT orientation camp Kubwa as part of his tour of orientation camps.
Kazaure said the scheme received a letter from the presidency that was also copied minister finance to that effect
"The FG is working to increase your monthly allowance, therefore, whatever you find yourselves conduct yourself well, be good ambassador of your family, the scheme and the nation.
"We received a letter from the presidency, that is, the ministry of youth and sport copied the ministry of Finance that shows that the corps allowance will be reviewed upward, it is in the pipeline," he said.
To the end, he urged the corps members to reciprocate the government gesture by taking advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).
He said the corps members should consider themselves privileged to serve the nation, thus be patriotic and uphold the mindset of the scheme.
Earlier, the FCT state Coordinator, Mr Ballama Birniwa, said the 2018 Batch "B" corps members have banned the use of firewood in the camp kitchen, hence gas will be provided for cooking in the camp.
He also commended the Corps Members' adherence to the scheme's code of conduct at the orientation so far.
