No fewer than 20 thousand candidates will participate in the Post UTME screening exercise of the federal university of Technology, Akure, FUTA.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Olatunde Arayela who is the Chairman of the university's admission committee said the screening Exercise will begin on Monday 6th and end on Thursday 9th August, 2018.
"we are fully prepared for this exercise, we have about 14 sub-committees that have been working with the university's admission committee. All arrangements are on ground."
"As at now, candidates are still registering, but the number of candidates that made FUTA their first choice university were over 20,000. We received that message from JAMB along with their scores but thereafter JAMB still requested that those that might want to change from other institution to FUTA should be given the opportunity."
"As l speak with you now, more than 2,000 have indicated their intention to school in FUTA. So, when you add that number with those that made FUTA their first choice, we are expecting about 23,000 candidates."
According to Professor, Arayela from the initial 20,000 that applied, over 13,000 scored 180 and above in JAMB and about 8,000 scored 200 and above.
"We have however invited everybody that scored more than 180 and above for this exercise in order to give everybody the opportunity of being selected. Our platform ought to have closed on the 23rd of JULY, but we have left it opened to accomodate more candidates."
Professor Arayela who said results of the screening would be released within 24 hours, maintained that the institution has the capacity to absorb 4,000 Students.
He advised candidates for the screening exercise not to come to the centre with incriminating materials.
