SCORES including the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in ldanre area of Ondo state, Chief Bola Ogunmolu, Hon Fredrick Tugbiyele, Hon Aderemi Oyewole were seriously injured following an attack by political thugs allegedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressive Congress APC.
Chief Ogunmolu aged 64 is presently on admission in an undisclosed venue following the injuries he sustained.
He was said to have been clubbed and kicked in his scrotum in the police station by the thugs when he rushed there to lodge complaint of the attack on the venue of the party. He reportedly fainted.
His party members had to rush him and others that were injured to a private hospital for treatment.
The opposition party was to hold an end of the year party at the LA Field Odode Idanre in the town when the thugs invaded the lsalu residence of the father of the chairman and attacked them.
Vanguard gathered the divisional police station in ldanre had granted permission for Both parties to hold their end of the year party yesterday.
Reports had it that the thugs invaded the residence of the father of the chairman, carted away the two cows already slaughtered, destroyed the band stand, went away with 4 android phones, damaged the canopy and chairs already arranged for the party.
But the state chairman of the APC, who hails from the area Hon Ade Adetimehin claimed ignorance of the clash in the town.
Adetimehin confirmed that the party was granted permission to hold the end of the year party yesterday by the state police command.
In like manner, the former Special Assistant to the former governor in the state, Hon Mayokun Akinmoladun said that permission was granted to the PDP by the police, SSS and the Civil defence to hold the disrupted end of the year.
He said the letter for permission was written to tell police and other security agencies and was dated December 30 last year.
Akinmoladun alleged that a ward chairman's Mr Fredrick aka Joogbe shop was attacked and his properties including Speakers, their engines and generating sets were destroyed by the APC thugs in the town.
He alleged complicity on the part of the police in the town who reportedly claimed their hands are tied on the arrest of those who distrusted the PDP party.
But the police lmage maker in the state Femi Joseph denied the allegation saying the command is apolitical.
Joseph who said that normalcy had returned to the town following the timely intervention of detectives.
He said that the APC leaders in the town have promised to compensate for all what were destroyed by the thugs.
The command said that" we are for everybody, the two parties have come together and the caretaker chairman and the party chairman in the town have in their magnanimity agreed to compensate the PDP for all their losses.
Joseph said after a meeting with both warring parties, they have agreed to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign in the town.
He promised that the police command was ready to give protection to the opposition.
