Three students from various secondary schools in Ondo State, have emerged winners from a Bible spelling bee competition, organised by a non-governmental organisation, Bowex Media Organization (BMO).
The three students were among the twelve who participated in the competition. The students represented various churches in Ondo East and West as well as Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local areas. They were given cash prices and other gift items.
The successful students are, Oluwafemi Hope Favour, who represented Winner Chapel Itanla, Ondo and came first, Akinola Taiwo, represented Church of the Pentecostal Bishop's Court Ondo, who emerged second and Babatunde Oyindolapo, from Gospel Faith Mission, Ondo who came third.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director of the Bowex Media Organisation, Mr. Olabanji Mamukuyomi, said the programme was organised to make the participants understand biblical spelling and to be aware of unfamiliar words in the bible.
While promising the readiness of the organization to make the programme a contentious exercise, he equally commended churches and the teachers of the participating students for the feat recorded, describing the achievement as a reflection of the standard of teaching of the word of God and level of academic and biblical progress in their various churches and schools.
Earlier in his remark at the occasion, a former Caretaker Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Mr. Abiola Makinde, had commended the organiser for the programme which he described as a laudable achievements.
He stressed the need for other youths in the area to emulate the gesture by organising similar event for younger ones, saying the move would not only compliment the efforts of the government, but also go a long way in assisting the parents.
The programme held at the Olusegun Obasanjo lecture theatre at the campus of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, was attended by important personalties within and outside the town.
