As part of efforts to bridge the gap in healthcare delivery and eradicate maternal mortality in Ondo state, Mrs Betty Anyawu Akeredolu has perfected plans to hold the maiden edition of Olori connection meeting today.
The 'Olori' connection is an initiative of the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari aimed at ensuring the well being of women and children through Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, Health Plus Nutrition (RMNCAH+N).
Mrs Akeredolu who gave the hint while addressing a press conference informed that olori connection meeting which takes place in Akure today is to engage the people at the grassroot and solve the challenges especially in the area of data collection.
She said the oloris who are wives of the traditional rulers will be contact points in the respective palaces for birth registration to promote national development.
Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu further informed that part of the duty of the Oloris would be to take data gathered to the local government while a copy is sent to the National population commission for the issuance of birth certificates.
She also said the Oloris have roles to play in bridging the gap in the health sector to promote trust between the government and the people.
The meeting is expected to take place in the 3 senatorial districts responsibility.
On the 9th of October, 2017, the wife of the governor signed a commitment to champion RMNCAH+N.
