At a time when he is seemingly not in the minds of many residents of Ondo State since handing over power in February 2017, the former number one citizen of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko is again in the news.

According to a former minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011-2014,  Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi  in his upcoming book, "On a Platter of Gold: How Jonathan Won and Lost Nigeria", Mr. Mimiko had before the 2015 presidential election wanted President Muhammadu Buhari, who was the then All Progressives Congress, APC candidate prosecuted for "certificate forgery" and disqualified from contesting in the poll.

Abdullahi who is now the National Publicity Secretary of the APC explained that the former Ondo state governor was at the forefront of the agitation to have the former minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke issue a fiat that would have given the power to a private citizen to prosecute Buhari for certificate forgery which could have led to his disqualification from the election, "or at the very least, disrupt the electoral process".

The book will go on sale nationwide from November 30, 2017 after the launch.

Jonathan sacked Abdullahi as Minister of Sports in March 2014 allegedly after Senate President, Bukola perceived to be his "godfather", left the PDP for the APC.
