29 Isreal bound Ondo state pilgrims have been admonished by the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu to conduct themselves with utmost respect and as good citizens of the state while in the holy land.
Speaking at the departure ceremony organised for the intending pilgrims at the Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium in Akure, Akeredolu who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Olugbenga Ale further admonished them to use the moment of the pilgrimage to pray for the country and the state, while also edifying themselves spiritually, and not a journey for social jamboree or tourism.
He said, "You must exhibit noble roles as worthy ambassadors of Ondo State and by extension, Nigeria.
"It goes without saying that the law of the state of Israel must not be violated in any way, either by abscondment, drug trafficking, prostitution and other social vices.
"It is interesting to note that Ondo State has recorded zero involvement in the aforementioned unwholesome behaviours since this government came into power.
"This is a good development, our government, being a people-oriented one, has committed so much to your welfare, by purchasing enough drugs to take care of your health while in the Holy Land.
"I implore you to reciprocate this gesture by praying fervently for the country and the state for economic buoyancy and most importantly, for the peace in the land and for the completion of all ongoing projects", he stressed.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet equally cautioned the intending pilgrims against living an extravagant lifestyle while in the holy land, but to exhibit values they have learnt from the Holy Bible.
