The Ondo State House of Assembly has received from the state Governor, OluwarotimiAkeredolu, SAN, a bill to amend the appropriation law 2017 and for matters incidental thereto.
The bill was read for the first time on the floor of the House yesterday at the plenary sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The hallowed chamber also received Social Responsibility Bill 2017 from the governor which has also passed the first reading.
Speaking on a bill to amend the Appropriation Law 2017 and for maters incidental thereto after the plenary, the Chairman, House Committee of Finance and Appropriation, Hon. SundayOlajide, explained that amending the 2017 appropriation law would give room for some funds to be moved from MDAs where such funds are not fully utilised to MDAs where the funds would be needed.
He said this is to ensure that important projects are completed by the government to better the lots of the people of the state.
Olajide, however, noted that the amendment would not in anyway alter the actual figure of the 2017 budget.
He stressed that the House would ensure that the 2017 budget which will expire on December 31 this year meets the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
Similarly, the Assembly has adopted and ratified reports of the Public Account Committee on years 2013 and 2014 State Government Audited Accounts.
The lawmakers unanimously adopted all the recommendations of the committee on the floor of the House after the committee Chairman had presented his two separate reports on 2013 and 2014 State Government Audited Accounts.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sunday Olajide said with the adoption and ratification of the committee reports, the House has successfully tackled the report of the Audior General on the Public Accounts.
He added that the committee had held public hearing with necessary stakeholders before the final recommendations.
