The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ondo Chapter has urged the management of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) to be God fearing and accountable in the carrying of their duties. The charge was given by the Deputy Chairman, CAN, Ondo State, Rev Fr Anselm Ologunwa when he led executive members of the organization on a courtesy visit to the university management. Ologunwa who congratulated the Vice Chancellor on his assumption of office said "among your equals God has chosen you and God who chose you will give you the strength to carry out your tasks. It may not be easy but you will have to put in your best, and be ready to make sacrifices when necessary." He also thanked God that peace and normalcy had returned to the university and assured the Vice Chancellor that CAN will continue to support the university and back his administration with prayers. Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape appreciated the intervention of CAN during the time of the crisis. He said their prayers and counsel brought peace to the university. He said the place of the pulpit in transforming the society cannot be underemphasized. He prayed that the seeds of the gospel planted by them will continue to bear fruits even in the face of changing societal values. The CAN delegation said Special prayers for divine direction and continued peaceful coexistence among members of the university community.
