The new Commissioner of Police posted to Ondo State, Gbenga Adeyanju has officially assumed office at the Command headquarters in Akure

Adeyanju took over from Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

The new Commissioner of Police, who solicited the support of citizens and men of the command, assured them of robust security activities in the state.

He expressed optimism that the media would extend to him the cordial relationship enjoyed by his predecessors in office.

" Don't shield us when we go wrong, but also spotlight our successes so that we can all collectively fight crime" He said

Adeyanju, the 38th police commissioner to be posted to Ondo state was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Force Administration, Abuja before his stint at the National Defence College, Abuja.

Earlier, AIG at the hand-over ceremony at the command  headquaters in Akure thanked the people and government of the state for their support during her stay.

Ibifuro-Harrison expressed optimism that her successor will surpass her achievements in the reduction of crime, particularly in the fight against kidnapping and clashes between farmers and herdsmen.
