The ministry of Niger Delta affairs has been charged to make its relevance felt by the people of oil producing communities of Ondo state through more life-impacting projects.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN who threw the challenge while addressing the second National Council on Niger Delta holding in Akure regretted the lack of developmental projects in Ilaje and Ese Odo council areas in the 2017 appropriation.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Honourable Agboola Ajayi reiterated the present administration's commitment to the rapid transformation of the oil producing region.
He noted that concerted efforts are ongoing to make Ondo the new industrial hub in the country.
He added that the road linking Araromi to Akodo-ibeju Lekki axis will not only serve as alternative route to decongest Ore-Shagamu -Lagos expressway but also boost the socioeconomic prospects of the sunshine state.
Chairman of the meeting's Local Organising Committee, Gbenga edema expressed optimism that deliberations at the summit will help fast track development in the region.
Edema who is also the chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to the Niger Delta as demonstrated with the Ogoni clean up and restoration of ecosystem project.
He also praised Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for providing the needed support to guarantee a hitch free council meeting and numerous policies to promote development in the Niger Delta.
