Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says he has summoned a meeting  with the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) management and leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic,  to end the ongoing industrial action. 

Governor Akeredolu who made the disclosure during a peaceful protest to his office in Akure by RUGIPO students  expressed displeasure over the manner  the lecturers carried the strike without formal notice. 

The governor while stressing that he runs a transparent government noted that what comes to the state from the federal government is not enough to to pay workers salaries, subventions to government agencies and institutions. 

Akeredolu enjoined the students to play their own part by paying their school fees to help government have more money to pay lecturers.  

Earlier the institution's Student Union President, Temitayo Ayeduyo urged the government to fast track dialogue with the lecturers so they could resume work as soon as possible.
