Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has assured that his administration is prepared to do everything possible to make the state investor friendly.
Akeredolu made this known in Akure during a courtesy visit by the Association of Foreign Investors in Ondo State.
He said there was no other option but to make the state investor friendly, hence the first step of engaging Air Peace airlines.
"We want investors to come, so we decided to engage the airlines and subsidize the flight because investors dont come back due to the bad roads.
"We made that effort so we will try to sustain it. Let people develop a taste for air travel.
"This state has a lot of resources both underground and on top of the ground; You have our assurance that any investment in our state will be encouraged," he said.
Earlier, Leader of the Association, Chief Peter Osadabey commended the Governor for his laudable achievements which included the newly launched Akure – Lagos Air Peace Airline which he said, would further attract many investors into the state.
Osadabey, who described the state as the safest in the country, stated that the association's main objective is to ensure that more industries are cited in the state.
He added that Akure alone, being the state capital, is supposed to have almost 500 industries in the other side of the world, saying they are working very hard to see how they can woo more investors to come and invest in the state.
"We have gone through the abundant natural resources in the state and they are overwhelming, there are so much here.
"Sir, you may not know, but these men I work with, know you have so much resources in the state and we are very ready to work with you to unearth these natural resources that had remained untapped", he said.
Osadabey appealed to the Governor, to allocate a portion of land to the association, which would be developed in collaboration with his administration as a place for investors, adding that
it would be a framework that would provide a conducive environment for them.
"We want to be comfortable here. We want adequate security which is already on ground. The land we demanded for, we know with your administration's support, we will make it an investment haven for investors", he assured.
Osadabey also used the visit to inform the Governor that the association is proposing a conference of all investors that exist in Nigeria which would hold between October and November.
He said the proposal to that effect would be drafted and sent to the Governor. "We want Nigerians to know that we are here", he said.
