We went through wilderness – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described its life in the opposition as a wilderness.

The party said the wilderness experience gave them the opportunity to reorganize and restrategise ahead of the 2019 general election.

Governor Ifenayi Okowa of Delta State made this comment on Saturday in Abuja at the ongoing PDP National Non-Election Convention 2017.

Okowa, who is the chairman national convention planning committee said the party regretted its actions, which many Nigerians were not happy with while in power.

He said they have learnt their lessons and ready to right every wrong.

He said, "the fall out of the 2015 general elections was a big shock to us. It was a wilderness experience we would not like to experience such again.

"This wilderness shook us to the foundation but God brought us out of shame. It gave us the opportunity to put our house in order for the big task ahead.

"This wilderness we went through gave Nigerians the chance to experience another party in leadership, which we have all been witnessing.

"We are back, better and stronger. Those who left the party should return home. We have bounced back and ready to take over the seat of power."
