No fewer than 450, 000 school children in Ondo state will benefit from the national school feeding programme of the Buhari led administration.
Coordinator of the programme in Ondo state, Mrs Omorinola Akinduro-Olanipekun who made the revelation in a chat with www.orangefm.com.ng said efforts are being consolidated to ensure the scheme begins on a grand note.
She revealed that over 3000 food vendors will be engaged for the programme across the state to provide hygienic food for the children.
`Over four hundred and fifty thousand primary school pupils, out of school pupils and physically challenged will benefit from the feeding programme when fully implemented, thereby creating job opportunities for over three thousand caterers' She said.
Mrs. Olanipekun stated that government will today begin the screening exercise for prospective caterers at the public health laboratory at Oke Eda in Akure in the first phase of the exercise which will be extended to other areas in due course.
She said the Akeredolu led administration is already finalising plans for a seamless national school feeding programme in the state. " The implementation team is already working on the feedback from the workshop we had all stakeholders involved in the project. The caterers have been told to come today with samples of their phlegm, and faeces for necessary medical examination to be sure they are healthy for the job" Olanipekun explained
She expressed optimism that the project will be a success as obtainable in other states that had commenced its implementation.
