Two bricklayers have died in a 40-foot well in Akure, the Ondo State capital, while they were trying to remove a fetcher from the well barely 24 hours after the report of the death of two students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) who were killed in the school's pond
Although the identities of the deceased bricklayers had not been ascertained as the time of filing this report, eyewitness said the incident occurred at Omu community along old Ondo Road at the weekend.
Eyewitnesses said one of the bricklayers went to fetch water after resuming for work at a construction site in the area.
According to the witnesses, the fetcher reportedly dropped into the well and the senior bricklayer after waiting endlessly for him to bring back water to mix the sand and cement embarked on a search mission.
However, on getting to the well, he reportedly discovered that the bucket was half full with water but his co-worker was missing.
He was said to have peeped inside the well and discovered that his assistant was struggling and shouting for help.
