Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has urged the new Ondo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Jacob Adebo to run an all inclusive government in a bid to ensure that the existing peace being enjoyed in the state continues.
Akeredolu gave the advice during the Special Quadrennial State Delegates Conference organised by NURTW, Ondo State chapter and inauguration of Adebo as Chairman of the union in Akure, yesterday.
He said the administration of the Chairman should be peaceful as well as enhance development of the state.
"Relate peacefully with everyone, even those that contested against you because a single person cannot handle a government alone and let peace reign," he said.
Earlier, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, President, NURTW, urged the newly elected Chairman of Ondo State chapter of the union to carry every member along in respect of peace.
He said a level play ground was provided for every contestant and appreciated the support given by members of the union.
Yasin gave the assurance that the union would support the administration of Governor Akeredolu throughout his tenure.
"The policy of our union is to support the government of the day," he said.
The president enjoined all members in the state to work with the new chairman in the interest of peace.
Also, newly inaugurated State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Jacob Adebo, commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), for restoring peace to the union.
He assured that his tenure will cooperate with the present administration towards ascertaining that the State will continually move forward peacefully.
Comrade Adebo who lauded the efforts of the union's National President, Comrade Najeem Yasin for ensuring that the inauguration of the new executive becomes a success, appealed to past administration to join hands with the new NURTW exco to move the union forward.
The new Chairman pledged that his administration would ensure that the relative peace being enjoyed in the State will continue unabated.
"During my tenure, I will not tolerate violence, indiscipline, thuggery, reckless driving and other vices. Our union will make peace, love and good human relation its watchword, so as to make the positive change of Akeredolu's administration a huge success", he assured.
In her brief remarks, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Bosede Daramola lauded the Governor for supporting the union since he assumed office and stressed that this is the first time the union will hold its election without violence.
She prayed for the successful reign of the new Chairman and enjoined him to ensure the existing peace in the state is sustained.
Dignitaries present at the event were Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs Hilda Ibifuro-Harisson, all local government Chairmen and NURTW leaders and members from within and outside the State.
