The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the temporary suspension of the ongoing Continuous Voters' Registration (CVR) exercise.
The electoral body said the temporary stoppage of the exercise was to allow the commission display the preliminary register of voters for claims and objections.
A statement by INEC's spokesperson in Ondo state, Olabimpe Awoniyi said the temporary display of the register would hold between today, Monday and Friday this week.
Awoniyi advised those who registered during the just concluded first phase of the CVR to visit their respective registration centres for any complaint on their names and particulars on display during the week.
The INEC spokesperson emphasised that the second phase of the registration exercise would resume on the 31st of this month and charged eligible persons who are yet to register to do so during the second phase.
The commission appreciated all registrants and the general public for their support and cooperation since the exercise started.
The CVR exercise which started nationwide on April 27, this year had recorded over 20, 000 (twenty thousand) new registrants.
