Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday dashed the hope of those agitating for the revival of moribund industries that littered parts of the state, saying that he would rather set up new ones. Akeredolu, who was addressing workers at the May Day celebration held at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Square in Akure, said he was not good at reviving the 'dead,' but creating new industries that would lead to employment of youths in the state.
Particularly, the governor said his administration was not interested in reviving Oluwa Glass Industries in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state or NIROWI Limited in Ondo, Ondo West Council Area of the state. He said a new glass factory and wood industries would be set up instead of spending huge government resources at reviving 'dead' ones.
Flanked by his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi and other dignitaries, the governor said he would start the reforestation of reserves in the state to create 10,000 job opportunities for the youths of the state.
