How DELSU security men chase ASUU officials out of school premises
It was gathered that the ASUU officials comprising its National Vice Chairman, Prof. Emman Osodeke, had earlier been stopped from gaining entrance into the Campus 1 of the university where the union's peace team was expected to meet with stakeholders embroiled in the crisis facing the chapter.
The ASUU peace team claimed they were at the institution on the instruction of the national body to settle an impasse trailing the DELSU chapter of the union, until security personnel, claiming to be acting on the order of Prof. Peretomode, decided to drive them out of the institution with force.
A leader of the visiting ASUU team, Prof. Idowu Awopetu, which also has Prof. Tony Monye-Emina, zonal co-ordinator, Dr. Monday Igbafen and Prof. Emman Osodeke as members, said the institution's head was responsible for the manner they were treated by the university's security operatives.
Relaying the incident to journalists in Abraka, Prof. Awopetu said, "We had arrived the Campus 1 site of the university, but the security at the gate refused us access into the campus, telling us that we were not supposed to be on campus.
"After a while, they allowed us entry; but on arrival at the university's staff club, which was the venue of our meeting, another batch of security personnel told us that the VC had ordered us to leave the campus.
"This act is lawless and an infraction of the law, as the VC should know the limits of his power. His action today (Monday) is a stain on the reputation of DELSU."
The VC could not be reached for clarification when our correspondent called his telephone number.
However, DELSU Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edward Agbure, when contacted on phone, said he was busy and pleaded that he would call back.
However, up until the time of filing this report, he had yet to fulfill his promise.
