The PDP has condemned the rumour making the rounds few hours ago on the ruling of the Supreme Court which dismissed, yet again, the appeal filed by Jimoh and Sherrif and was deliberately misrepresented by members of Alliance for Democracy and All Progressives Congress.
Speaking in an interview, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Ondo State, Mr. Banji Okunomo said the duo of AD and APC, in whose interest Jimoh Ibrahim orchestrated the crisis within the PDP, contrived the information so as to distort the already made up minds of the members of the public to stick to Eyitayo Jegede following the return of his name into INEC list after a protracted legal battle.
According to Okunomo, the two parties had desired to benefit from the masterminded crisis against Eyitayo Jegede but to their chagrin and contrary to their expectations, Eyitayo's name was restored back into the INEC list, a development leaving the two parties unsettled.
His words: "Ever since the affirmation of Eyitayo Jegede as the gubernatorial candidate by the court of appeal, the opposition camps have become jittery and their desperation increased astronomically.
"This is however an antithesis to the charming and very warm expression of joy and celebration by the teeming population of Ondo State electorate who received the news as a welcome development.
"Neither AD candidate nor APC candidate possesses the distinguished credentials of Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, in the coming gubernatorial contest.
"Every governor that emerged in Ondo State had been determined by the people of the State not by external sponsors from Kaduna, Lagos and Osun.
"The striking out of Jimoh Ibrahim's case at the Supreme Court this morning further gave a boost to Eyitayo's camp to the disadvantage of the AD and APC candidates", he said.
