ASUU Strike: Union's one-week warning strike comes to an end
The warning strike which was embarked on by the union over the non-implementation of a 2009 agreement with the Federal Government, was reportedly called off on Tuesday, November 22, Daily Post reports.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said that lecturers should return to work immediately.
"We are making progress, especially with the intervention of the Senate. In the next one or two meetings, if we are able to get a clear path to the matter, we will avoid elongation of the strike action," Punch quoted him as saying.
"I have been receiving these reports that ASUU says strike continues. No. The strike ends today (Tuesday). All lecturers are to go back to work Wednesday morning."
Ogunyemi stated that the union was hopeful for a positive outcome considering the response from the Federal Government.
